I just realized
How much I’m going to not fit in with all of my high school classmates when I see them in a month for our 5-year reunion. My high school is basically like CCS on crack and I’m already too preppy for CCS.

What do I want for graduation?
Austrian guidebooks, books about Austrian culture…
gimme.
Also a sorority t-shirt quilt and a typewriter.

WAY too much to do before the end of the quarter
I have 3 papers and one final exam standing in the way of me and a Cum Laude BA in Literature with a concentration in Creative Writing. 2 of those papers are classified as midterms, despite the fact that I only have 3 weeks of school left. WHAT?
20 days until graduation.
40 days until my residency permit application is due.
40 days until I am 23.
109 days until Washington DC.
114 days until Austria.
Too many things to do to accomplish all of this.

I may be stuck in California with a bunch of drunk, classless college students wearing big [sombrero] hats…but I still celebrated the derby.

Our photography manager had a wonderful time photographing Sigma Alpha Epsilon Pi at University of California in Santa Barbara! Can’t wait to work with your group again next year!

newday-newadventure asked: Congrats on getting the Fulbright!! I went to Germany and Austria this past summer, and it was absolutely amazing. I'm still waiting to hear back about an ETA in Spain for the next year, hoping my news will turn out as well as yours!
Thank you! Did you hear about Spain?

Anonymous asked: Hey! I'm Emily, I actually found you via something one of my friends pinned on Pinterest, but I am a USTA for Austria next year also! I'll be in Hartberg, about halfway between Vienna and Graz (I studied abroad in Vienna last year, and CAN'T WAIT to be back!) Do you know if there's a Facebook group or anything yet? I think it would be cool to get to know everybody even though we'll all be spread out. Really excited :)
Hi Emily! Congrats—I’m so excited to be in Austria. I couldn’t find a Facebook group, so I created one. Join it here, please. https://www.facebook.com/groups/409277749107056/#!/groups/409277749107056/
I’ll be in Villach, which is in Carinthia. The town is kind of small for my taste (58,000) but hey, it’s a Fulbright, so I’ll take what I can get. I studied abroad in Berlin last year and Germany was my first choice, but I was an alternate :/ I’m just happy to be going. I’m Liva, by the way.

"We are the girls with anxiety disorders, filled appointment books, five-year plans. We take ourselves very, very seriously. We are the peacemakers, the do-gooders, the givers, the savers. We are on time, overly prepared, well read, and witty, intellectually curious, always moving. We pride ourselves on getting as little sleep as possible and thrive on self-deprivation. We drink coffee, a lot of it. We are on birth control, Prozac, and multivitamins. We are relentless, judgmental with ourselves, and forgiving to others. We never want to be as passive-aggressive are our mothers, never want to marry men as uninspired as our fathers… We are the daughters of the feminists who said, ‘You can be anything,’ and we heard, ‘You have to be everything.’"
